I have just received this off RHQ

It is with great regret that we have to announce the death of Major Monty Robinson RWF aged 93. Monty was commissioned into the Royal Welch Fusiliers on 16 December 1949. He served with RWF in the West Indies, in BAOR in Dortmund and Berlin and in the UK. After the usual Platoon Commander appointments he was the RSO and an instructor at Mons Officer Cadet School where he trained amongst others Colonel Peter Reece. Monty also served with 1 SWB before returning to RWF as Training Major of 4 RWF in Wrexham and the Welsh Volunteers in Cardiff.

Monty retired from the Army in 1978 but continued to serve his Regiment as Chairman of the RWF Comrades Association from 1987 to 2006.

There will not be a funeral as Monty left his body to medical science

Gentlemen,

You may recall the death of Monty Robinson, aged 93, in Feb 2023.

He left his body to medical science, and it has now been released for cremation.

The service will take place at 9.30 on 4th July at Wenallt Chapel, Thornhill Crematorium, Cardiff. CF14 9UA

Representatives from Branches would be welcomed.

Monty was commissioned into RWF Dec 1949 and retired in 1978.

He continued to serve the regiment as RWF Comrades Association Chairman from 1987 to 2006.
