It is with great regret that we announce the death of Colonel Peter Henry Reece DSO late of The Royal Welch Fusiliers. He died at home in Sherborne on Friday 20th January having initially recovered from a series of strokes and a spell in hospital. He was 85.

Peter was commissioned into The Royal Welch Fusiliers as a National Service Officer in 1958. He commanded the 1st Battalion based in Lemgo from 1979-1981 including an Op Banner Tour in West Belfast where he was awarded the DSO for his courage and inspirational leadership.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

A Private Family Funeral will be held on the morning of Thursday 23rd February at Weymouth Crematorium.

A Celebration of Peter’s Life will then be held on Thursday 23rd February at 1430hrs at Sherbourne Abbey, Abbey Close, Sherborne, DT9 3LQ.

Please note that due to Lent flowers will not be present at the funeral.
