there was an article in the above edition that I read about the 2nd bn RWF in Malaya in the 1950's a photograph of WJ Davies wearing his RWF blazier beret hackle and RWF Tie he was also wearing 3 medals I don't recognise I thought the GSM Malaya was issued to those that were in that campaign but the above person was not wearing one? can the medals he was wearing be identified and if he served in Malaya why wasn't he wearing the GSM Malaya

Benny, ay chance of seeing a photo of the 3 medals. The GSM Malaya was issued to those who qualified for serving in Malaya or Singerpore and I am sure of this as my dad served in Nee Soon from 1953 to 1956, during the period, we visited the 2nd Bn in Malaya.

They look like unofficial medals to me, the right one is the Active Service Medal. But if you look closely on the first medal, you can see a small part of a medal rim obscured by the lapel, that migh be the GSM.

The middle is the Eastern Service medal, probably with incorrect ribbon. The first is an unofficial Malayan Campaign Medal.

The medals are not Malayan Campaign Medals.

The obscured, first one, is. You see a small part of ”Elizabeth II Dei”. The three visible ones are all unofficial & commemorative. And he would be entitled to a Pingat Jasa.
