Good day from a civilian,
Is this correct?:
(quote)" The Great Orme Kashmiri Goats
The first intimation of Capra Markhor is the rank odour... The Royal Welsh Fusiliers have obtained most of their regimental goat mascots from Whipsnade stock."(end quote).

This beast is 6ft. tall at the shoulder, with spiral horns over 5ft. long. A magnificent addition to the parade ground, with dignified full beard. Who would try to argue with it?
Markhor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Markhor (Capra falconeri) is a goat-antelope found in sparse woodland in the Western Himalayas. The word "Markhor" is Persian for "Snake Eater". ...

Hi John.
I am an ex Drum Major of 1st Bn Royal Welch and live on the side of the Great Orme. The description is good but I would question the six foot high bit, although the six or seven is not accurate either. I would say more like 100 at anyone time. There is one Black Goat here and he is a bit of a rarity. We always tell our guests to walk away slowly from the goats because they do have a tendency to have a bit of a rumble with tourists. Fully grown, I would say they are about 4 foot high. Hope this is useful
