I just tried my link and it takes you to the forum provider, have the forum managers closed it down for the same reasons as before? In its absense why don't you try this out?www.royalwelshveterans.co.uk

No problem Mac.
I sent a message to JCJ a couple of weeks ago asking what had happened, but he has not responded. Maybe they are in the process of setting a new site up?
Just that you are aware JCJ has just moved house and might not be set back up yet.

No definitive answer as to why the site closed, but visitors are being advised to use the The Royal Regiment of Wales Veterans Forum - which is starting to gather momentum
"Due to changes in how this website and the discussion forum are used, we've made some changes...
The RRW discussion forum has been moved to a separate system based around members of all former regiments that now make up The Royal Welsh. If you would like to contact the Regimental Museums directly, please use our contact form (http://www.rrw.org.uk/contact.htm)- This is the best approach if seeking information on family members of a previous generation who have served in one of the former regiments. There is likely to be a charge for any research undertaken.
If you are, or have been, a serving member of the regiment, or would like to discuss any subject related to Royal Welsh Veterans, or locate a former comrade who you served with, please click here (http://www.royalwelshveterans.co.uk/modules/newbb/) for the veterans' message board."

Hi boys,
Regarding the RRW Forum and recent threads regarding a "New Site".
I E-mailed an old friend of mine Maj (Retd) Hooley, who is currently the Asst Regtl Secretary RRW Cardiff, as a result of queries on site regarding "RRW Forum".
The following is an extract of his reply:
"Gerry, great to hear from , Regrettably, the RRW Forum controlled by our Museum at Brecon was being abused and required much in the way of policing as such it had to be regrettably closed. Steve O'Mara then arranged his site which was very successful but eventually disappeared into Cyber Space! As a result, the Bridgend Branch of the Royal Welsh Association organised a site, run by Kevin Richards (Ritchie 42) and is still in its infancy. It is designed merely to keep people informed of what is going on and encourage them to join the site - there is also a site for The Royal Welch Fusiliers on it.
Do have a look at www.royalwelshveterans.co.uk - you will be surprised how many people are coming out of the woodwork!. I must stress, this is not the official site for the Royal Welsh". End of E-mail.
I personally don't see the need for a new site, just continue the threads from this one and see how it progresses, it might even calm down the "Shout Site". The amalgamation has happened, let's not vent our feelings on or allienate those who had no say in the politics of the matter. I do have ex Welch, SWB and RRW chums (all retd) and Regtl Assn members who are quite concerned regarding comments made on the Shout site!
1st, 2nd & 3rd Royal Welsh doesn't sound too bad to me, at least we remain Royal Welsh!
The way that the undermanning of the services are going, approx 6000 undermanned at the moment, with more going out than coming in, in a couple of years there is a danger of us losing total identity anyway and just becoming a Regiment of The British Army, possibly an Infantry Corps as opposed to separate Divisions, what an impact that will have on County Recruiting!
Nuff Said,
Gerry 943
