Hello,
I am a long-time collector of militaria and have been lucky enough to acquire a very good quality replica of the unique fighting knife used by the Welsh Fusiliers in WW1.
One of the unusual features of this knife is its folding knuckle guard.
I am curious as to how soldiers in the trenches would have wrapped or tied back the knuckle guard so that it wouldn't rattle; as it rattles quite loudly if left loose (not something an infantryman would have wanted on a night raid).
Thank you for your attention.
Kind regards,
Laurie Thomson
