My taid, Robert william Jones, Sgt in the 4th rwf service number 4183530 was a pow in stalag 344 his pow number was 13233. Can someone please tell me how he was repatriated and how long he was a pow. I have a photo of him but don't know how to add it.

Should be 13133 not 13233

Helen, Have a look at the following web site, http://www.lamsdorf.com It is a web site dedicated to those who were POWs., at Stalag 344 ( Lamsdorf), it contains a lot of information, including photographs, and a list of POWs., not complete however. It may provide you with another path of research.

Hi dave, I looked at that. I couldn't find any particular details tho as it said some were freed by the Russians and some by the Americans. We don't know exactly when he got home. Thankyou for taking the time to reply tho sweetheart x

Have you checked if there is a POW questionnaire for him at the National Archives at Kew?

Thankyou for that. Unfortunately I can't get to Kew and it can't be downloaded. I did find his medical card but there was nothing on there. Oh well, never mind. Thankyou for trying. Work calls now x
