During my medal collecting, and with the ascent of Internet and different Forums like this, it has been my pleasure to see 8-10 medals or groups back to the family. Hopefully there will be more.
This week it was a group (as the majority of them has been), to a soldier in the RWF.
This man landed at Suvla 8/8/1915 with the 1/6th, survived the war and came back to Rushden where the batallion had been billeted to marry his sweetheart he had met then.
To replace the group I recently aquired a MM and trio to the 1/6th. He earned the MM at Gaza, which was reported in the Rushden papers - as I found out when the nephew I sent the group to emailed me a link with a photo of Bernard Kelly, MM, without knowing this was the soldier whose medal replaced his uncles in my collection.
Serendipity!
ATB,
Lars
