With great sadness and deep respect, we must report the passing of Stephen Hunt. Having held the position of honorable secretary to the Holyhead branch of the RWFCA for many years, Steve was also a very familiar figure at many remembrance events, never failing to pass on his respects to the fallen and also to the survivors of more recent battles.
A very popular figure in Holyhead, Steve was a teacher at the local secondary school for more than a decade. .A firm favourite among all the pupils. He once shared how very proud he felt to reconnect with ex-pupils who, following school, had joined the Royal Welch Fusiliers, his regiment! With a special word and a handshake, he always found the time to say hello to the boys.
During his retirement, Steve became a volunteer at the Holyhead Maritime museum where he was a popular colleague and friend, the condolences attesting to his wisdom and his kind and gentle nature are flooding into the museum.
Stephen Hunt, a gentle giant who will be deeply missed within the Holyhead community and much further afield.
Our sincere sympathies to his family and his dear wife Maureen.
Rest in peace, gentle giant.
