We are very saddened to report the death of ex WO2 Chris Jones 23 RWF. Chris passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, after enduring a long illness. We pass on our deepest condolences to his family, friends and comrades. Funeral details are to be confirmed.

Chris was a former member of 1RWF, his time included a long stint as CONCO at Crossmaglen 87-89, and I can vouch for the respect he garnered amongst the many infantry/Para/Marine companys that passed through that outpost. Chris also served with 3RWF as a PSI at Caernarfon in the mid 1990's and later as WO2 Office Manager at Bangor Recruiting Office. Highly respected and much liked by all who knew him.

So sad to hear the news about Chris, a very honest and good friend who taught me a lot in the battalion whilst I was a member of 6plt B Coy 1 RWF. From a personal note Chris was a young Corporal in my platoon in Lemgo, a much respected and liked guy within the platoon, he was a very good soldier who gave his best at all times he will be sadly missed by all who new him, Chris it was a pleasure to have served with you mate.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I had known Chris 23 for a long time. He was a JS at Cwrt-y-Golden when I was a pl comd there and was a key leader of the Welsh 3000 juniors team I helped train. It was clear then that he would be a fit, tough and formidable leader as an adult soldier. I followed his career closely, particularly when serving together in 1RWF, and was most impressed with the high standards he set and expected. He kept himself superbly fit, was always smartly turned out and perhaps his greatest quality was the way he trained, helped, developed and advised those he had the privilege to command - he was a perfect mentor and made an excellent recruiter. The funeral of Chris Jones 23 will be held on Thursday 25th January at 1pm at the St. Mary's & Christ Church in Llanfairfechan LL33 OHN.
The wake will be held at the Mulberry in Conwy Marina LL32 8GU for anyone who wishes to join the family.
