Recently the future of the comrades association has been heavily debated within the forum. Its a little while since we had a push for new members, so whilst its high on the forum agenda, this is probably a good time to recruit. In addition we know that many recently left members of the 1st Bn, serving as private security contractors around the world, probably havn't yet joined.

For those uninitiated: Membership of the Association is restricted to individuals of any rank who are serving, or have served in the Regiment, or any of its Regular Militia Service Special Battalions or in any unit duly authorised and recognised by the Army Council as belonging to or forming any part of the Regiment.

Two types of membership. Branch or Individual.

You choose the membership that best suits your circumstances, though branches are always looking for new members, and you will be made welcome.

Now the easy bit. You can join online by clicking on the link on the left sidebar of the homepage, or by clicking the link below. You should hear from the association within a few weeks. Let us know if you dont.

If you sign up via the site, can you post a one line response to this thread,(eg Joe Bloggs Afghanistan). this will give Bob and myself an idea of the numbers of new members coming through the site.

So if your entitled to membership...take it, and support it .

Well Done on this, there are a lot of ex Royal Welch Fusiliers out there who need to be informed of our great RWF Comrades' Association.
Many Thanks

Hi Al,
Being in Canada I have joined as an individual member. Is there a fee? If there is let me know how much, who to and where I send it.

Cheers
Dilwyn

Clive
Brecon & Blaenavon Branch would be your best bet, as Newtown Branch is a bit far for you.
Major (Retd) Bob Doak is the Secretary and you can contact on 01873 811016 to find out when they hold their meetings.
Good Luck
BennytheBall
P.S
Shotton & Deeside is a bit TOO far for you lol.

As ever Benny's map reading is to be questioned Llandod's nearest branches are Newtown (just up the road). Welshpool a little further on or indeed Brecon and Blaenavon who alternate their meetings between Brecon and Crickhowell I think!.
Or of course Clive your more than welcome to join us in Aberystwyth (35 mile trip).
We meet on the 4th Wednesday in the month at 2000hrs in the RNA Club, Market Street, Aberystwyth.
For further details give me a call on 01970 820542.
By the way our St David's Day celebrations this year are on March 10th with a 3 course traditional regimental dinner at Plas Antaron Hotel Aberystwyth with Lt/Col Martin Leader CO3RW (he's exRWF) as our Chief Guest.
Give me a call if your interested in attending either.

Regards

Hingey

Branch means you have joined a local branch to you in or near Barmouth and individual member the comrades society at RHQ in Wrexham and not affiliated with a branch. I used to be an individual now a branch member at Bridgend.

Darren your nearest branches would be Blaenau Ffestiniog, Caernarfon or Aberystwyth.
I take it its one of the first 2 your a member of, as your not on the books at Aberystwyth as a member or is there some information gone astray?

If he's only just joined Paul, he won't be on the books. If he's requested Branch membership using the online form, Sue should send him his membership pack, with details of the local branch....I think.

Well done and thanks to those who have signed up, 8 new members in a week. Anybody else???? there must be loads of Forum Members who are eligible for membership, but have still to sign on the dotted line.

Hi Al,

Just received my membership details from RHQ after joining as an individual member. They sent me dates for the reunion in September, but for some reason they have referred me to the Shotton and Deeside branch for meetings. Must be one of my old officers working up in RHQ looking at the maps:wacko: Still, proud to be a member.
