Hello all on this forum.

My name is Raimondo (Ray) Bogaars and I am a local WW2 researcher for the vicinity south of Eindhoven, Holland. (Valkenswaard, Aalst, Waalre, etc.)
I've co-founded an foundation (erfgoed 40-45) and wrote two books about the war in this vicinity.

At the moment my greatest project is tracing information, pictures, relatives and backgrounds of the soldiers who are buried in the War Cemetery Valkenswaard. Of the 222 men buried there, 39 belong to the RWF.
You can follow my projects at:

www.valkenswaardwarcemetery.nl

Facebook:

Hope to learn much from this forum that can help me in my projects.

All the best from Holland,

Ray

P.S. I am a serving Sergeant in the Dutch army.

A warm welcome Raimondo. Great to have you on here, and a huge thanks for all you are doing. Do you have a list of RWF guys you would like us to have a look at ? Most of our researchers focus on WW1, but their skills are extremely useful when searching other theatres.

Our RWF guys are the largest group buried in Valkenswaard and I'm sure we can assist the Dutch team achieve their goal of locating all the relatives. Grateful for any help. My only requests.

1. Each man should be the subject of a seperate thread on here.
2. Please avoid reams and reams of links, what we need is the definative contact of the relative please, so that Raimondo can box the individual off.

Obviously if you locate detail of interest in relation to the individual, especially their war service, Raimondo will of course be very interested in that.

Today, I passed on the detail of the granddaughter of Maj Davies 4RWF, (son of Lord Davies of Llandinam ex CO 14 RWF).

Best Wishes

Al

Re Mason James Albert 14589039 6th Battalion. Confirm that he was born in Connahs Quay and the family are still shown living there in the 1911 census for Wales. He married Mary Ann Corbett in 1931 at Hawarden, Flintshire. Records show a Mary Ann Corbett, born 1911 at Holywell, Flintshire and her mothers maiden name being Buffy. Albert's name is on the Connahs Quay War Memorial.

Reference : Winston M. Blower, the Wrexham telephone book lists 6 Blowers with the immediate Wrexham area and 1 in Corwen. With regard to the wife of Reginald Percy Davies, Violet Mary Nee Reese, there are 9 entries in the Wrexham Telephone Directory with that surname. Perhaps these are further lines of enquiry that could be pursued.

Possible connection for Hume Henry Arthur 4199864, believed born 1917 Wellingborough, Yorkshire, mother's maiden name West. His father, Fredrick Beecham Hume was born in 1888, at Kettering, Yorkshire. In 1891 he can be found at the family home, Address Croxens Yard, Burton Latimer, Kettering, Yorkshire. In 1901 the family are recorded as living in Alexander Street, Burton Latimer and in 1911 the Census for England show him still to be in Burton Latimer along with his parents, and younger siblings, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. In 1915 his father marries May West in Wellingborough and where Henry was born in 1917. Given that he came from a large family and were living in the same area for over 20 years it is possible that family members still live in that area of Yorkshire.

Bramwell Peter Cyril. Reference his wife Lizzie Violet nee Dexter. Records show that she died in 1986, within the Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council area. This is an council area which is east of Manchester and north of Stockport. Her death is registered under her married surname of " Bramwell". Reference TAM/B25A/113. Source Cheshire Births Marriages and Death Records.

Her death is registered under her married name of " Bramwell", which suggests that she never remarried. I have tried marriage records between 1945 and 1975, under both her maiden and marriage names without result.

Hume Henry Arthur 4199864 4th Battalion.
His name appears on the Hingham Ferris War Memorial, as Henry A. F. Hume and this is the name as recorded at birth.
His father Fredrick B. Hume was born either 1888 or 1889 in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire which is the registration district of Kettering. Census for England and Wales for years 1889, 1901 and 1911, show the family residing in Burton Latimer.
He married Mary West in 1915 at Wellingborough. ( her details were supplied in an earlier post )
He died in 1962 . Place of death given as Kettering.

John possibly married a Shelia M Jones in 1939 at Newtown, Montgomeryshire. She was born 6/9/1924 at Llanfyllin and died there in 1969
References : England and Wales Birth Index Volume 11B page 247

John's father Thomas was born in 1893 at Llanfyllin one of 5 Children : Edward D born 1891, John Lloyd 1895, Edwin 1899, and sister Margaret Mary 1897. All were born in LLanfyllin including his mother and father both being born around 1865. The 1901 Census for England and Wales still shows them living there.
He married Annie Thomas at Newton, Montgomeryshire in 1913.

I would suspect given the size of the family etc., that there is a strong possibility that family members are still within the area.
