Thank you, I managed to find the list of bereavements after I posted the query. There were so many names of those I knew including officers like Peter Bruxner Randall and Warren Whitaker that I realised how old I've become. Tell me, there used to be a thread for the League of Friends but I can't find it now. Does it still exist or has the League been disbanded.

I served as a Corporal Cadre Instructer under the then Major Whittaker at the Newcastle Camp Jamaica and in "A"coy until my Demob in 1954.We coresponded then until his death
We became great friends as also with the the then Captain Rhichard Sinnett withhome I also corespoded until his death.So many have now passed away since our Jamaica days.
I am now 85 yrs old and proud to have served with a great bunch of Men of the Ist Batt The Royal Welch Fusiliers in JAMAICA BWI.

I served in Jamaica in Bill Street's Pioneer Platoon and the three inch mortar platoon. If you were discharged in 1954 it was probably from Chiseldon camp near Swindon. Do you remember training at Moneague for the landing at British Guiana and the journey down on HMS Superb and the frigates Burghead Bay and Bigbury Bay? The RN brought us back to Jamaica on the aircraft carrier HMS Implacable after relief by the Argylles.
