As above. Organised to coincide with the centenary of the first major action of the relatively untried 38th (Welsh) Division at Mametz Wood on the Somme.

Just spent the afternoon with Ron, selecting Great War items from the RWF Museum Trust Collection, for an exhibition at Ruthin through July/August.

10.00-10.15 School children and parents/ guardians etc assemble in the area beside the flats at St Peters Church(the old school house) anticipated numbers approx 300 children plus parents etc Children and parents will be allowed to carry items they have made at various workshops. Note that roads will gradually close, Prior St being the first
Order of the parade:-

101 Memorial cross carriers
School children and family members
10.20 Royal British Legion volunteers assemble on the town square(bucket collection/ flag providers/Poppy sellers) etc, disperse to poppy Parade route when the parade leaves St peters Church. Traffic management team in place, confirmed by Keith Lovell to Ron or Jeff
10.30 All roads closed and Poppy Parade Starts, route agreed with DCC. Depart church grounds into School Road, turn left into Prior St , Town Square, Well St, cross Wrexhan Rd, Mold Road into Ysgol Brynhyfryd.(YBH)
10.45 (approx) . On entering YBH the parade will halt with the 101 memorial cross carriers handing the crosses to 6th form pupils of YBH. The parade will then disperse into the grounds of YBH. 6th form pupils will then carry the crosses past the leisure centre, turn left at the hard standing and proceed to the peace garden. This area will be temporarily barriered off until the crosses have been placed, then members of the public will be allowed to plant their poppies in a designated area.
St John’s will be at the end of the parade which will signify that selected roads can be reopened once the ambulance has passed.
