I don't smoke after sex - well I don't think so - I've never looked!

Once you decide to quit TELL EVERYONE - the more you tell, the sillier you'll feel if you start again.

Hello I had the same problems trying to stop, then I watched a programme on television one night where a surgeon cut open a lung he'd removed from a cancer victim, he said it was from a smoker. Next morning at work I gave the rest of my roll up 'baccy and papers to a fellow addict and haven't smoked since. that was 36 years ago. Was I brave, decisive ,strong willed, not really, I just S""" myself . Regards Alex

Go "Cold Turkey" along with willpower, its the only way.

Try writing a list of the good things about giving up smoking (feel healthier, no stink of smoke, more money etc) and then a list of why you smoke. When you feel the urge for a fag get the list out and take a read through it.

here's 1 for u ,,, my dad who is 54 and smoked for some 30 odd years has never tried to quit before until 5 wks ago , talk about the wrong time of year an all that with christmas and big cigars at new year Etc. and being in a pub for the festive season alot more than normal and every1 knows that the pubs are the wrong places to go if u wanna quit !!! however ,,,,, all he has done is get some patches off the doc, and bags of hubba bubba (or Equivelant) and he's still off the rollies 5 wks on! good luck with it

I was known as smokey joe due to my habit, when I left the Army I worked out how much I spent over a year on tobacco, being very mean I decided I could no longer afford to smoke.
So money and will power did the trick for me, best of luck.
Regards,
Joe.

try keeping a small jar( pocket size if possible) with the contents of an ash tray mixed with waterin it, when ever you feel like a fag have a good sniff of the jar and you wont want a fag after that (trust me). :arghh:

Give up smoking for yourself and nobody else. I have stopped a few times over the past 20 years and have now been off them for 3 years and this time it’s for good. The reason I always went back to it was I wasn’t ready to stop and I was just doing it because other people were nagging me to do it.

I lit one up one morning after a heavy night and asked myself why I was doing it after just coughing half a lung up, so I put it out and haven’t had one since.

As patronising as this sounds you do get a feeling of freedom knowing you are not dependant (and all smokers are) on cigarettes and don’t have to do it anymore.

Willpower is the only way, patches just lengthen the time nicotine is in your system. A 20 a day smoker will be nicotine free in 5 – 7 days. After that it is just breaking the habit. If you want to have a cigarette call someone, make a brew just do something else until you realise that you don’t need it you just want it. Above all keep in mind that you are freeing yourself from a cocktail of poisons, an expensive addiction and the smell. Keep it up it is worth it.
