Hello,
On Antiques Roadshow tomorrow (Sunday the 15th September) an interesting snippet is on show. It concerns a Lt in the R.E. from Hendy. I will not go into too much detail. But it shows the reality of war and at the same time an amazing amount of generosity and humility from senior staff officers in the midst of war unfortunately not seen very much over many years. Well worth a look at.

It was an interesting slice of Welsh history and showed the desert fox in a good light. The officer concerned was lucky he was not executed following the infamous Hitler order, as many were who were captured by other less chivalrous Germans.

I notice they were at Tredegar house and mentioned Evan Frederick Morgan, 2nd Viscount Tredegar who was a well known character and who was tried during WWII for various charges. I own a cap of his from his time during the great war as a staff officer after having to leave front line service with the Welsh Guards because of ill health.

Thanks, I was glad to add it to my collection even though he was with the wrong Welsh regiment! A rarity for me to be able to put a face to an artifact.

Hello Jerry,
Remember the old adage " The man who does not make a mistake does nothing" Considering the age of the hat regardless it is a lovely artifact. Keep up the good work.
Regards as ever R B D
