Perhaps an image might make it easier to try and help you, it would for me at least.

I can save you the trouble, Angela.

50th (Holding) Bn RWF was formed Jan-Feb 1940. Later that year it was converted to infantry and renamed 13th Bn RWF.

The war diaries for 13 Battalion don't start until October 1940 and there isn't any for the Holding Unit.

morning all.
found the following, which i seem to think i may have come across before.

http://www.bbcattic.org/ww2peopleswar/stories/18/a8759118.shtml

not sure how this fits. as the 50th appears to be a Kings Own unit. it might appear that it was the 7th(holding)Btn that formed the 13th, sometime around 2/6/40, when the KO left Denbigh for Heysham Towers,Lancaster

not sure how this fits

It doesn't, Ivor. A 50th (Holding) Bn was raised for most Regiments, and 50th King's Own was a different unit from 50th RWF.

I am a bit slow here so only just seen this. Yes my Grandfather Frank Williams was posted to 50th HB, Denbigh on 23/06/1940, next entry on his records is 21/09/1940 where he was 4 RWF, Down Patrick.

I would be very interested to see pictures of the service records Angela, my Grandfathers aren't what we were expecting at all so it would be interesting to see more. I couldn't load them onto here either so I put them on Flikr and then put the link on here instead. https://www.flickr.com/photos/einnaf/
