Hi All,

I have just uploaded some issues from the 1920s and 30s - yet more to do but got to take dogs for a walk now!

Please note that there is a gap in issues from June 1925 to June 1931. This is because Y Ddraig Goch was not issued between those dates. The editorial in the June 1931 edition covers that point.

Have fun - makes wonderful reading.

I have just completed the uploading of all the Y Ddraig Goch editions which I have available to me - the latest batch takes us up to April 1940.

You will see there is a huge gap between 1940 and 1974 STILL TO BE FILLED. Hopefully somebody, somewhere has some of the issues of the Journal from that time.

Hello 989,
Re your latest thread. Deep down in my H D D I believe the Red Dragon was not published during the war years. Some thing to do with a shortage of paper and the fact that Winston Churchill instituted the D O R A act. This was the "Defence of the Realm Act, this meant that news papers etc were barred from divulging secret information that could prove useful to our enemies. Churchill threatened to close the Daily Mirror down because they did not fully comply with this Act of Parliament This of course is a great pity for today's generation, as we lack a lot of info re the R W F 's part in W W 2. Volumes 1,2,3,4, 6,and 7 are printed Volume 5 concentrates on the R W F during the second world war. Vol 5 is being worked on but it is such a long time after the event that
R W F historians have little to work with except for the War Diaries and "The Red Dragon" by Lt Commander P K Kemp and John Graves. I can distinctly remember talking to the likes of R O F Prichard J E T Willes etc who were always at our A G M's. What a missed opportunity to garner a lot of what exactly the various R W F Battalions done. I am still waiting for two more issues of the Red Dragon I have been promised from the early fifties to go with my two issues. Mind in the 50's we had 4 issues a year Spring, Summer Autumn, and Winter. I do not know for sure when they made it an annual issue. I also have 5 copies of Y D G the 2nd turned out in Malaya they are a difficult size to scan. They are just between A 4 and A 3. I will go to Cardiff and get them scanned
and post off to you. I wonder why you prefer J P E G rather than P D F for any Y D G's I am able to send over to you.
regards R B D

If I get them in jpg single page and need to do anything to them, sizing, orientation etc I can do it. Once it is in pdf format I can do nothing with it. Incidentally, if there was a photo that needs to go up in the gallery, the forum utilities do not recognise pdf for uploading.

Correct Don, instead a series of newsletters were issued….Quite detailed in some cases, especially in regards to officer appointments and awards etc as the war progressed.

We have, but I will need permission before they can be published. Hopefully I will get an answer next week. Either way, the work you've done on this project Keith is brilliant….a goldmine of detail.

Good news Keith, I'll be passing you the WW2 newsletters soon. They are full of detail and will be a useful addition for researchers.

Great news. Please courier them, don't risk the post office. I use Hermes and find them very good and NOT expensive
