Earlier today, I was chatting to a person who works in St Martins Plain Camp Folkestone. During the chat, it was mentioned that the MPGS in Folkestone was being reduced to 8 men (this is for the 3 barracks in the garrison), and the remainder who work their at present are being made redundant or being redeployed to Lydd.

Is this happening through out the UK?

Agreed and the civy guard service and the MOD plod are being cut as well apart from those employed in the nuclear area though the government claims they ill make more use of the Military provost guard service to replace them

Not completely true, a lot of land sites (Army) are going self guarding so MPGS at those sites are having to move or runout there contracts, the MPGS is actually increasing in numbers and will man all level 1 & 2 sites at fleet (Navy) and Air (RAF) where as MGS will reduce but continue to man level 3 & 4 sites. Some land sites will still have MPGS & MGS. The MPGS is the prefered option due to their armed capability. Currently at approx 2800 with about 400 in the recruiting system.
