Tilley was a Welsh Guardsman in 1940 and took part in Harpoon Force to rescue the Dutch Royal Family from the Hook of Holland. He was later commissioned into the RWF. Does anyone have any info on this guy? Christian names etc?
I hope the snipped bit from the London Gazette appears in this post! Any help appreciated

1st Sept 2011 The sudden death occured of Dai Tilley
He doesn't appear in RWF Regimental records post 1945, so I assume his RWF commission was not held with the 1st or 2nd Bn.

A WORLD War II hero who flew 5,000 miles for a reunion with his army comrades tragically died when he fell down stairs.
A WORLD War II hero who flew 5,000 miles for a reunion with his army comrades tragically died when he fell down stairs.
Former Welsh Guardsman Dai Tilley, 91, who emigrated to the United States in 1952, had flown to Cardiff, where he joined other old soldiers at the city’s Great Western Hotel.
But two nights before a reunion *dinner, he lost his footing at the top of the hotel stairs.
He was taken to hospital but died of his injuries soon afterwards.
A Welsh Guards spokesman said: “It is tragic that he died after coming all this way to see us – but he was among friends.”
