the biscuits in the ration packs were kin ard.. lol. as I remember..

I loved them and the cheese on the digestives, very nice indeed.

Loved them but only with the condensed milk from a tube on them
I reckon he tried Chomping on one of them bloody awful Oatmeal Blocks with Lime Jam on. Braz

Cheese processed made a great quick snack though smelt like 10 day socks

At the end of the weeks Scheme in the Brecon Beacons the leftovers were pooled,and into the Mess tins went:- 1layer of Pilchards.1layer of a tin of Spuds and over this
went the Hardtack biscuits (first soaked in a stream). This was then cooked over a wood fire. "FOOD OF THE GODS".

Brian, if I'd have been there yoy could have had a double portion butt. Starving or not if I dislike something theres no way I could eat it. Braz

Beaten only when followed by a pudding consisting of Garibaldis' out of a 'D', I seem to remember, 24 hour rat pack!
In Canada on Ex 1980 I was a Rifle Coy CQMS, we were packing up camp and I was helping (hindering) the ACC chef Joe Farrely make a stew the boys could scoff before they went on compo. We had not been rationed for it we were just using what was left of the fresh rations. While the chef was busy elsewhere I thought “this stew looks a bit thin” so I decided to throw some biscuits in to thicken it up. Instead of using the biscuits brown I accidently chucked in Garibaldi biscuits, before long all you could see were the currants floating on the top. I managed to scoop out most of the currants and in fairness the stew went down a treat. The attached photo is of the actual culinary crime!

Colin, u should have left the currants in the Stew butt. The lads would have thought they were Flies. - Extra Meat. lol Braz PS I bet u got some cracking stories u could put on here too Colin.

As you might guess, I too had various uses for these tasty treats. Bash them into crumbs add sugar to make a crumble, also very good with cheese. I got out of trouble one day while on exercise with the Royal Artillery in Germany, we were getting low on pudding, so thinking on my feet i made niggers in the snow. Using potato powder, sugar and milk, thats mock semolina. It went down very well.
