Our elderly relative William `BILL` Haynes is being cremated at Gornalwood Crematorium, Chase Road, off Coopers Bank Road, Dudley DY3 2RL next Tuesday 30th April at 12.20 pm.

Bill unfortunately is a widower with no children so there will only be a very small turnout.

Bill signed up for the RWF during the second world war & it was probably the period of his life that he most regularly referred to. I thought it would be really nice if someone from the regt could attend on the day.

Many Thanks

Des Ponsonby

I only live 18 miles from Dudley and will attend, representing London Branch, the Association plus the Forum.

Eddie Roberts 12 and myself attended the funeral yesterday - a small gathering with just 19 family and friends.

The relatives were quite appreciative ref RWF representation and made a fuss of us all afternoon.

For me it was just an 18 - 20 mile rail trip but Eddie Roberts drove down from Prestatyn and deserves a huge pat on the back for that!

The following poem was included in the service programme:

If we cannot do him honour while he's here to hear the praise
Then at least let's give him homage at the ending of his days
Perhaps a simple headline in a paper that would say
Our Country is in mourning, for a soldier died today

Thanks to you both. I'm sure your presence made a huge impact on the family. Did you learn anything about his service?
