I've been having an argument with an ex Royal Marine that i go drinking with for months now over the name of that tube thing with handles on it used for banging in picketts, I reckon it's a humper thumper and he reckons it's a monkey are there any ex storemen out there that can put us straight on this one?

I agreed with John, the “Monkey” I used it many times on the farm and during my time with the Forestry Commission.

Cheers all I'll spend the next few months dropping the name "expedient picket driver" into the conversation so when he looks himself I'll be right anyway ... Happy Days! ... however I'm with Richie all the way on this one a monkey is something that eats bananas and lives in a zoo
