Re-checking all entries of my ORs list, I am a bit worried about 7162 Abraham Davies from Llanbeblig. My notes say that he enlisted 27/07/1909 (can't remember where that came from) but assuming that the date is correct, his number would be too high for SR or TF, too low for the Regs.
Can anyone explain (or correct) this. please?

I just noticed 7222 Samuel Bullen, enlisted 03/10/1908. Same problem. The Special Reserve had only reached c.3800 at the time, the 4th would not get to 7000 until 1912, the other TF bns even later, but the Regs had already reached the five digit numbers.
I must have made a serious transcription error somewhere.

Re Bullen
He is on SWB List J/109 which gives enlistment as 3/10/1902.
Re Davies
The following suggests 1902 which sound right given 7160 = 1/7/1902 and 7168 =10/7/1902
Corporal Abraham Davies, 1st RWF, North Penrallt has arrived home on leave from the trenches. He has been in the army for 13 years. He was in Malta when war broke out and was in the first battle of Ypres. At one time he was reported as a POW but later it was confirmed he had not been taken prisoner (Y Genedl Gymreig 27/7/1915)

That's the stuff, Hywyn, thanks very much. I must have made an error transcribing my notes, my handwriting being what it is. List corrected.
