John Mercer

I have just been informed by John Lewis 04 that John Mercer, his father in law, has died at the age of 82. John Mercer, a Royal Welchman through and through, passed away peacefully at 05:00 this morning, in hospital, surrounded by members of his family.

At this difficult time our thoughts and deepest condolences are with John and Julie Lewis, his wife Maria and other loved ones. John will be sorely missed, but happily remembered by all of those fortunate enough to have known him

Another sad day for the 23rd with the passing of Johnny Mercer. Like Roger, I also remember John in the QMs Dept when I first joined the Bn in Iserlohn Jun 63. He wasn't the screaming and yelling NCO that we had been accustomed to during our training, quite the opposite and easy to get on with which was quite comforting.
