Another sad, sad day. Roy was truly a lovely man. Godbless Roy

I was 18 when Roy took over as RSM of the Battalion In Londonderry. He was the first Warrant Officer/SNCO I felt I could talk to without feeling that I was "not knowing my place". On the C.O.'s crew, there was no shouting and bawling because the CO was waiting, it was cool, calm, collected and get there ready to go. That sort of coolness was very comforting to a young man who felt that he was perhaps totally out of his depth. That coolness and approachability never left Roy and it was always a pleasure to talk to him if the occasion arose in the years that followed. He was one of a kind and will be missed by many not just a Royal Welchman but as a "family member". Our thoughts are with Rita and the family. Thank you Sir.

Oh Dear, very very sad news indeed - 2011 is only six months old and has already claimed yet another RWF Character- a sad year so far!

I served at the same time as Roy Blewitt MBE and on more than one occasion had to appear in front of him when I was a SNCO and he was RSM. His fatherly dressing downs really struck home, no screaming or shouting and when you left his office you knew that you had been reprimanded - he had that knack!

I had a beer with him at the last reunion where we attempted to put the "Regiment To Right" in particular the future of the RWFCA.

Roy personified the ultimate example of a Royal Welchman and despite his transission on commissioning, never forgot the service roots of his Regimental career ladder from the NAAFI through to the Officers Mess - he was still Roy to everybody and that's how he will be affectionately remembered.

He was also fortunate to enjoy the support of Rita, who was just as much RWF as he was and gave the same committment be it through the Battalion Wives Club, the Unit Families Office, LOF and the RWFCA

Sincere personal condolences to Rita and family on the passing of a Regimental Icon from myself, Verna and family

Condolences also from all at the London Branch RWFCA.

Capt Blewitt was one of the first larger than life characters that I came across when I joined the 3rd Battalion. As a young Fusilier it was quite nerve wracking to go in front of the great man for a rollocking. As I became more senior it became easier. His sense of humour and mighty laugh are abiding memories of our relationship. I saw him at every rememberance day parade and he never seemed to age. He still stood as straight the last time I saw him as the first time. I truly believed the man was indestructible. I extend my deepest condolences to his family.

As everyone has said to date, a Royal Welchman through and through. I, like many, was lucky enough to learn much from Roy about the Regiment and many other aspects of life.

A class man, whose strengths and qualities were combined with those of that greatest of characters Rita to shape another class act to follow him in Gary.

Very sad news and my deepest sympathies to Rita, Gary and Gaynor.

Hello,
I have just phoned ex C.S.M. Mac Cormack re the recent loss of two former members of the RWF Major Don Matthews and Roy Blewitt. I mention Don even 'though his thread is closed because Mac does not have links with a comrades association and I have tagged him to my branch, and Mac wishes me to send a message of condolence to both on his behalf. He sends his deepest sympathy to all the families and friends of our two former comrades having served with both of them.

I think I am correct in that Roy did a tour with 1 SWB as B Coy CSM in our Op Tour of Aden in 1967. I did not know him well as I was a sprog joining A Coy 1 SWB in the June of 67 but I knew he was held in high regard. I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family.
