Glad you could find us lyndon!

On behalf of the Administrators, Moderators and all members welcome to the Royal Welch Forum, which is funded entirely from voluntary donations from the membership.

By joining our community you will have access to post topics, communicate privately with other members (PM), respond to polls, upload content and access many other special features

If you want to have the chance to win the lottery you can join the nine members Forum Lottery Syndicate where, for one pound per week, you have numerous chances of winning. As the syndicate membership increases so do the number of chances there are of winning.

If you have any problems, either create a thread or send a private message to a Moderator.

Finally, we would be grateful if you would take a moment and introduce yourself to the Royal Welch community in the Introduce Yourself forum. Just share a bit about yourself. For instance, whether or not you are you/were a serving member of the Regiment or Armed Forces, what your occupation is now and how you plan to use the site.

Once again welcome to the forum.

hi thanks for the welcome,,
its good to see that my cousin David (darees) is already on the forum searching for information on my Great Grandfather David John Pritchard who was in the Royal Welch Fusiliers in WW1
http://rwf-forum.co.uk/vBulletin/showthread.php?12149-Pvte-David-John-Pritchard-61461-(Efail-Fach-Pontrhydyfen)
so im sure that his search will continue on the forums and i can speak to him on what he finds and what others can share

in addition my Grandfather Dillwyn Pritchard was in the South Wales Borderers in WW2, i believe this is some of his service record when he was a POW
D. PRITCHARD
Rank: Private
Regiment: The South Wales Borderers
Army No: 3915052
Camp No: 4C
Prisoner of War No: 252054
Record office: Infantry Record Office, Exeter
Camp type: STALAG
Camp location: Wistritz bei Teplitz
my uncle also said he was captured twice, one by the germans (he escaped) and once by the italians, and during an escape bid with another soldier he met at the camp (who apparently came from glynneath) he got caught on barbwire and my grandfather went back to untangle him which he did,, but unfortuantely got entangled himslef and was caught.

i have been told that obtaining records at the moment can take up to a year due to demand.
on another forum i use, a gentleman called Brian checked at Kew in the National archives to see if my grandfather made a report but couldnt find anything
i am trying to find out the regiments of other family members who enlisted in WW2
Donald Gardiner (Army)
Phillip Gardiner (Royal Navy)
Betty Gardiner (WRENS)
George Gardiner (Homeguard 72nd Glamorgan G.H. H.A.A. Battery Gun Crew Section2 in Jersey Marine)

and WW1

Arthur George Gardiner (Monmouth Regiment Machine Gunner/Battalion Runner)

if any one can offer further details it would be greatly appreciated,

Lyndon
