Army Rugby Cup Final 16th March Aldershot. 2 R Welsh V 1 Welsh Guards

On Wednesday 16 Mar 11 the final of the 2010/11 ARU Cup, 2 R WELSH v 1WG, will be held at Aldershot Sports Stadium, Queen’s Avenue, Aldershot. Kick off will be at 1530hrs.

This is our 5th Final in 5 years. We have been successful in the previous 4. It is 1WG’s 3rd final in a row and they have been defeated in the past 2 by 1 SCOTS and 2 R WELSH.

This week we have also had confirmation that 4 of our players have been selected for the Army squad with a realistic chance of starting in the Army v Navy match on 07 May 11. They are Sgt Paul Llewellyn (Backrow), LCpl Chris Budgen (Prop), LCpl Denny Delaitamana (Backrow) and Pte James Reed (Stand-off)

The Battalion will be there in numbers and it would be fantastic if you could come along, if not I will update the web page with the results.

WG won 28 - 9 disappointing result but we were beaten by a much better team on the day. Nice to meet up with some friends not least Alan Davies 46.

Guards deserved winners on the day,but what a great day nice to meet up with all the old faces and a fantastic evening had by all (robbo had a pint with your brother in the Elepahant and Castle)but must say The Welsh Guards hard work to get on with dont think i seen one smile all evening,thank god i joined the Royal Welsh,

We were beat by a better team, we must learn from this and do our best to get back into the final next season. It would be good to have another Welsh Infantry Final.
