Last night (Sat 26th Feb)saw Aberystwyth Branch celebrate St David's Day in some style. Our Chief Guest on the night was none other than Capt Des Williams DCM who gave an update on how all 3 Battalion's Royal Welsh were doing and future comitments for them.
Aber's celebrations are fairly formal insomuch as it's a traditional dinner of Roast Welsh Lamb which was really excellent and during the interval between courses the geetings from H.M. Queen and the Comrades branches were read out.
The highlight of the evening, as ever, is the leek-eating ceremony conducted again this year by members of the Corps of Drums 3rd Battalion who travelled down from Wrexham and made the evening a very special one.
This year's participants in the leek-eating were: Cllr Sam Hearne (Mayor of Aberystwyth), Mr Steven Hearne (Mayor's Consort), Mr Vince Morgan's (proprietor of the venue who really looks after us brilliantly), and Michael Jones 04 (ex-RWF).
A brilliant night with superb comradeship..a special thank you to the drummers who really made it a spectacular night.
For those of you yet to celebrate can I wish you one and all....A Ddewi Sant!
