BT call to help injured soldiers

)

BT people can help inspire armed forces personnel to find new roles
BT is looking for employees who have an armed forces background in an initiative to help give injured service men and women quality work experience.
The company is working with the UK Ministry of Defence as part of its commitment to Work Inspiration, an initiative led by Business in the Community.
By becoming a Work Inspiration employer this year, BT signed up to providing quality work experience placements for thousands of people.
Helen Chipchase, from BT’s people policy diversity centre of excellence, said: “Under this new initiative with the MOD we are working to offer Work Inspiration to injured armed forces personnel and need BT people from a similar background to help with future events.
More confident
“The events will take a similar format to those already staged in Scotland involving sessions with employers such as BT who provide insights into specific roles.”
After the initial session in Glasgow, 87 per cent of soldiers who attended said they would be more confident in the workplace, and 94 per cent said they would recommend the programme to a colleague.
BT Work Inspiration manager for Scotland, Sharon Burgess, said: “It was great to receive such a positive response from soldiers who are facing major changes in their lives due to the serious nature of their injuries.
“The BT people who take part in Work Inspiration also get a lot from the experience - they develop skills and confidence and often feel energised and motivated.”
