Joseph Ford POW

I am researching the father in law of a relative who served in The Royal Welch Fusiliers during WW2. His name was Joseph Ford, born 1914 in Bolton but lived in Stoke on Trent. He was a POW during WW2. We don't know if he was a prisoner of the Germans or Japanese. He suffered dreadful injuries during his captivity. He would not talk about his ordeal after his release. He died in the 1970's.
Can anyone help with this matter?

I did not find any J Ford of the RWF who was a German POW during the war. Would you have a service number it might help in checking. Perhaps another member on here know if he was a japanese POW?

I don't think there is any mention in "Red Dragon" of RWF POW's in the far east. There is however plenty of examples of actions against the Japs, where the losses included those termed as "Missing". Unfortunately most of the guys captured, would have almost certainly been killed. The bulk of the POW's came from large scale actions such as the defeat of Singapore. Perhaps one of our older members can recall any Naafi tales about individuals who were taken POW with either the 1st or 2nd Bn in the far east?

The only Joseph Ford I have on record is 4208598 Pte J Ford he attested into the RWF on 28th July 1941. He transferred to the Royal Signals 15th September 1942.

Might be an avenue to follow up.
