We have just heard that Canon Herbert Lloyd died last night in his sleep - we will post details of his funeral when known

The funeral of Canon Herbert Lloyd, who was 3 RWF's Chaplain in the 60s and 70s, will take place on Mon 26 Jul at 1pm in St Thomas' Church, Rhyl, followed by interment at Prestatyn Parish Churchyard

A very fine padre, would listen to you and offer very good advice, also gave a very good sermon.
I have some very good memories of Herbie.

Canon Herbert Lloyd. BA. TD. CF. was a native of Ruthin, on completion of his Schooling and university, followed his National Service (NS) in the Royal Air Force. After a short time employed with local government and much to his father’s disappointment Herbert joined the Priesthood in 1958. His first parish was Wrexham with special responsibility for the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">High</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Town</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> area. It was at this time Herbert became known and much loved friend to the Royal Welch Fusiliers. His support and friendship over many years (1958 – 2000) to the Regiment is summarised below.

Padre to The 4<SUP>th</SUP> Cdt Bn RWF
Chaplain to Royal Welch Fusilier Comrades Association.

Hebert travelled widely in support of the Regiment, on formal parades, special occasion and conducting funerals, weddings as requested by Regimental family members. His hummer and sense of fun was endemic, as Sir Joe has stated he was a “Solders Padre”.

i first met rev lloyd when i joined junior tradsmans reg 1rwf at kinmal campin 1967 he them maried me and my ex wifein 1983 at rhyl chould not meet a better man rip rev lloyd
