Carl,
Col (retd) Merfyn Lloyd and Mrs lloyd, Captain (Retd) Des Williams, Captain Paul Goodwin (Last Bandmaster 1RWF Band) former Bandsman Joe Bresneck and his partner and myself had the honour of being present at the Graduation Ceremony for the Royal Welsh Coolege of Music and Drama on Friday 25th June to see the inaugural presentation of the RWF Comrades Association annual prize to the most outstanding Harp pupil of the year. The Regimental Harp ios now on permenant loan to the college and every time it's used in a concert (quite often) there is a citation mentioned in the programme stating that the RWFCA have presented the harp on permenant loan to the College.
Photo of the presentation is in the Gallery but it have sent out a press release to all the national Newspapers in Wales (Western Mail and Echo and the Daily Post) which is set out below.
A brilliant day and the Regiment will continue to have a presence on the National and International stage.

The Graduation Ceremony for 2010 at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) saw the inaugural presentation of an annual prize from the Royal Welch Fusiliers Comrades Association to the “Most Outstanding Harp Graduate” in that year.
The first recipient was Gwenllian Llyr who hails from Clydach, Nr <st1:PersonName w:st="on">Swansea</st1:PersonName> who has already won International acclaim for her musicianship most recently performing at Buckingham Palace during the 60th Anniversary celebrations for the RWCMD in-front of celebrities such as Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Dame Shirley Bassey, Rob Brydon and of course the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The RWF sadly saw their Regimental Band disappear during the Defence cuts in 1994. The Band always had a Harpist and the Concert Harp had languished in various places post 1994 finally ending up at the Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall, Twickenham.

Cllr Paul Hinge, former member of the RWF Band and a member of the RWFCA Executive made contact with Kneller Hall to find that the Quartermaster (Facilities Manager) there was none other than the last Bandmaster of the RWF, Paul Goodwin.

In discussion with the National Chairman RWFCA and the Executive, it was decided to find a home for this wonderful instrument where it would be used. Cllr Hinge got in contact with the RWCMD who were delighted to accept this wonderful instrument on permanent loan. It was also decided to mark this link with a Welsh College of Music by instigating an annual prize for outstanding musicianship on the instrument so inextricable linked with Wales, the Harp.
