It is with deep regret that I have to inform members of the passing of Les Breeze.

Les was commissioned into the RWF at the end of WW2 and was a stalwart member of our branch. Although for the past 10 years or so not enjoying the best of health. I spoke to him just before our St David's Day Dinner which was the first time ever he'd been unable to attend.
His passing will leave a big hole in the RWF family in Aberystwyth and I know that his wife Mared, who was devoted to him and indeed his brother Richard will miss his infectious personality.
Les was a research scientist at the WPBS in Aberystwyth and in his working life was an internationalkly reknowned researcher in his field of plant genetics.

His funeral will take place this Friday 26th March at Aberystwyth Crematorium at 3pm. Family flowers only and/or donations in lieu towards the Ceredigion Heart Failure Nurse.

I have just returned from Les' funeral where there was close to 300 people there to say a final farewell to a man although smallish in stature, had a huge personality that made all who met him proud that they could call him a friend.
In his tribute to Les, Professor Mike Hayward, former Director of the Welsh Plant Breeding Station here in Aberystwyth, waxed lyrical about Les as a man, Les as a scientist and more importantly Les' insistence that all who meet him knew he had served in the Royal Welch Fusiliers.
It shows the metal of the man who despite knowing that his time on the mortal earth was short wanted to know only 2 weeks ago how our St David's Day celebrations went. That's a true Royal Welchman thinking of others through adversity.
I'm proud to have known Les, and just as proud to have counted him as a very true friend for 25 years of his 83 years on this planet. He lived life to the full and was a Mongomeryshire man through and through who never ever forgot his roots!
