Having drawn a blank elsewhere, I wonder if anyone here can help me please, as I try to find out more about my husband's WILLIAMS family.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p>
My husband’s grandfather was Percy Evan Williams, born 13 May 1888 in Marylebone, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">London</st1:City></st1:place>.
He joined the 15th battalion of the 38th division of the Royal Welch Fusiliers on the 28 August 1914 as a Private, his regimental number was 21503.<o:p></o:p>
His unit was commanded by Major General Ivor Phillips.
In November 1916 he was commissioned, his final rank was Captain.
He was mentioned in dispatches in 1917, and awarded the Military Cross in 1918.
Percy stayed in the army at war’s end serving as Assistant Military Liason Officer at Cherburg and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Dunkirk</st1:City></st1:place>, he left the army in 1921.
<o:p> </o:p>
I have found his medal card at the TNA, and would really like to obtain a copy of his full army records. I have looked at the records on the Ancestry website, with a nil result, can anyone suggest where else I might find these records please?
<o:p> </o:p>
Percy had three brothers, whom I have been unable to find any trace of past the 1901 census, despite using all my genealogy skills gained over the last twelve years.
I wonder if they might have also joined the Royal Welch Fusiliers along with Percy? Again, I have looked at the records on Ancestry and the War Graves Commission website with a nil result. Is there any way I can find this from the Battalion records and how would I go about this please? Their names are as follows:
<o:p> </o:p>
John Edgar Williams born in Marylebone in 1880.<o:p></o:p>
William Henry Williams born in Marylebone in 1885<o:p></o:p>
Stewart William Williams born in Marylebone in 1896<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
Any help or advice that you can give me will be gratefully accepted.
Thank you.
